Energy Use

During the 2006 calendar year all the people on Earth consumed about 4.94e20 Joules of primary energy; e.g. oil, coal, natural gas. Interesting enough, nations imported about 40% or 1.93e20 Joules of this amount. As long as an excess exists then this ratio means little. But, what might happen when supplying nations don’t have the necessary excess?

Hungry?

Give a man a fish and he has food for a night.

Teach a man to fish and he has food for many nights.

Teach a man to fish sustainably and both he and his children will have food for a very long time.
